Planning is the key to a successful data migration. The SharePoint Migration Assessment Tool (SMAT) is a simple command line executable that will scan the contents of your SharePoint Server 2013 farm to help identify any issues with data you plan to migrate to SharePoint Online. The results report points you to articles to help you fix any issues that were discovered. The tool runs in the background without impacting your production environment.

FederationProvider
Restart the computer.
Workaround
If you can't make the changes to the registry, use Office Online to open and work with Office documents.
More information
By default, the registry keys that are listed in this article are set to update every three days. If you don't remove the keys, they will be refreshed after three days. After they are refreshed, this issue should resolve itself.
It's possible that your organization has overridden the default value for the key update to be more or less than three days. To determine whether your organization changed the default value for the keys to update, locate the following subkey in Registry Editor, and then check the FederationCacheLifetime key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice15.0CommonIdentity
If the FederationCacheLifetime key exists, the number of days for the keys to update was overridden to equal the value of this key. For example, if the value of this key is 5, the keys will be updated in five days.
If the FederationCacheLifetime key doesn't exist, the default value for the keys to update is three (3) days.
